Zig Ziglar: Leaving A Legacy Today—Making An Impact Forever

In Memory of a True Hero of Humanity

I was walking in the streets of Copenhagen the other day when I was told about the passing of one of the world’s greatest heroes, Zig Ziglar. I stopped, paused and looked up towards the heavens. With tears in my eyes, the first thought that came to mind was, “Thank you Zig Ziglar.” Thank you Zig for making the world a better place. Thank you Zig for being a personal friend and a mentor. Thank you for making the impact you have made on my life and on the lives of millions of other people all over the world. As the father of personal motivation and inspiration, you are and will always be one of the world’s most valued and honorable champions for the betterment of humanity. You have helped so many see the greatness in others and especially, within themselves. I will miss you deeply and I will never forget you.”

I’ve been fortunate to spend some personal time with Zig, one to one back in 2009 at his corporate office in Dallas. Other than marrying my beautiful wife and the birth of my three children, this was one of the most profound days of my life.

I had the incredible pleasure of not only sitting and talking with him for several hours but we even did a video shoot and a series of interviews. Ironically, these interviews never aired. However, in honor of Zig Ziglar, I will be sharing this video series with you over the upcoming months, so make sure you registered to receive my newsletter or video series.

Zig is a man who is and will always be a testament and a model of what it means to be a genuine, authentic, passionate, wholesome, inspiring, supportive human being. He exemplifies for all of us how to live a life of integrity, faith and balance, while always keeping your eyes on the priorities and what really matters.

Every Monday morning, I have one of my favorite Zigism’s scheduled to pop up in my calendar so that I can start my week off with the correct perspective on life. I am reminded by Zig how to keep your eye on the bigger prize while being present in the moment and honoring your core values and priorities each day, through a brief but powerful Zig quote which I’ve posted below:

Balancing Your Life: Maintain Perspective

[blockquote_styled sign=”Zig Ziglar”]Give yourself a break! Keep a long-range perspective of what you’re doing. This philosophy is summed up well in this saying: “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of another human being.[/blockquote_styled]

Zig, while the world has suffered a great loss, your spirit will always live within our hearts and minds, and your words and inspiration will continue to impact us today and for many generations to come. We are forever grateful for your wisdom and the gifts you have given to all of us over the years.
